The Rebirth of the Web

I’ve been doing my share of preaching that the Web is as alive and
well now as it has ever been. I’ve been recounting statistics that
demonstrate that the number of Internet users increases steadily and
those users are buying everything they can through the Web. I’ve
been predicting a bright future for ecommerce. This optimism has
not been contagious amongst my colleagues. Validation has been
slow coming. It has now arrived in the form of the November 5,
2001 issue of Interactive Week.
The cover story title is This Year’s Interactive 500 Ranking: Online
Revenues Double.” I suggest that you at least read Rob Fixner’s
column “Look
Who ‘Gets It.". If you are moved by what you read, also read John
McCormick’s “E-Commerce:
It’s ONLY as Success.” If you are as moved as I was by these two
columns you will have no choice, but to read the rest of this issue.
The big question is which companies will manage to stop feeling sorry
for themselves and get with it in time to participate in the continuing
boom. Personally, I am energized, excited, expectant, stimulated,
and actively participating in continuing the success of the Web.
